“Like countless other South Carolinians, the SCRA team and I mourn the passing of Senator Hugh Leatherman. As a member of the executive committee of our board of trustees, Senator Leatherman was a tireless advocate for our organization and our mission to fuel the state’s innovation economy. He was instrumental in the passage of key legislation that bolstered the impact of that mission, including the creation and expansion of the Industry Partnership Fund, which represents our primary funding source. A moment I long will remember was receiving an unexpected call from the Senator. He said that he had just read our Annual Report and how proud he was of everything we were accomplishing. That one small, yet powerful, gesture typified the man.
Senator Leatherman will be greatly missed.”
