Summerville, S.C. – For the fourth year in a row, Home Telecom is redirecting their South Carolina taxes to support the South Carolina Research Authority’s services. Home Telecom contributed $200,000 to the tax credit program, also known as the Industry Partnership Fund or IPF. The program funds grants and other services that SCRA uses to grow technology-based startups and research and development projects that are bringing needed innovation to the marketplace and creating higher-paying jobs in South Carolina. Some recent grantees include a healthcare startup that is reducing the adverse effects of cardiac arrests and one that is working to improve communications and situational awareness for first responders.

“We’ve been family-owned and providing innovative, customized internet and communication services for businesses and residents for over 120 years in South Carolina. Our deep roots and commitment to this state give us a built-in affinity for products or services that can improve the quality of life for our employees, neighbors, and customers,” said Home Telecom CEO William Helmly. “This is why we continue to support SCRA’s mission with our state taxes.”
SCRA Business Development Manager Andy Olsen said, “I have the pleasure of traveling around the state to talk about our mission and the exciting innovations we are bringing to the marketplace to help more people, and Home Telecom is a trusted partner in this work.”
“Without organizations like Home Telecom, we would not be able to support our state’s technology-based startups and researchers. With partners like Home Telecom, we can advise them, house them, match them with industry partners, and help them relocate to South Carolina. All of this is a win for our state,” said South Carolina Research Authority President and CEO Bob Quinn. “We sincerely appreciate Home Telecom’s support.”
