Columbia, S.C. – Realize Ascent was accepted as a South Carolina Research Authority Member Company. CarbonCents, Oncoblaze, Torpedo Bio, and Volare Boats received new grant funding.
All SCRA Member Companies receive coaching and access to SCRA’s Member Benefits and Startup Resources, can apply for grant funding, and have the potential to be considered for investment from SCRA’s investment affiliate, SC Launch Inc.
CarbonCents Inc. received a $50,000 Demonstration Grant. The Walhalla-based startup provides solutions to organizations to collect, measure, and evaluate energy costs and emissions. Their service offers insight into the operations of manufacturing, health care, education, and municipalities.
Oncoblaze LLC received a $50,000 Federal Matching Grant. The Charleston-based life science startup has developed innovative technologies that deliver therapy precisely to cancer cells that remain after surgery. Their technology improves patient outcomes and reduces the burden of cancer recurrence.
Realize Ascent LLC was accepted as an SCRA Member Company. The Charleston-based information technology startup provides innovative and cost-effective laboratory and in-the-field analysis solutions that drive clarity, quality, and profitability across agriculture, food, and manufacturing supply chains. Realize Ascent’s services include high-accuracy 3D scanning, parts trial management, 3D printing and custom fixtures, and technology partnerships.
Torpedo Bio LLC received a $25,000 Academic Startup Grant. The Medical University of South Carolina-based life science startup is developing technology to address the unmet need of efficacious and safe cellular immunotherapy for solid tumors. The approach produces immune cells that maintain tumor infiltration, acquire cytotoxic and inflammatory properties, and directly target tumors while transforming the microenvironment to drive eradication.
Volare Boats, LLC received a $25,000 Startup Grant. The Johns Island-based advanced materials and manufacturing startup has developed a vessel platform that can service a range of maritime applications, such as recreational, commercial, and industrial, with its flexible design, dynamic performance, and superior technology. The fully electric vessel will be equipped with a hull specially built for EVs to maximize efficiency, and will include an integrated steering, trim, and drive system.
SCRA welcomes these new Member Companies and congratulates those that received funding.
Grant funding is made possible, in part, by SCRA’s tax credit program, the Industry Partnership Fund, and its contributions that fuel the state’s innovation economy. Contributors to the IPF receive a dollar-for-dollar state tax credit, making it an easy and effective way to help one of the fastest-growing segments of the South Carolina economy. Grant funding for Member Companies creates a direct, positive economic impact and job creation.
