SC Launch Inc. Invests in Ruffian Software

| News Releases

Columbia, SC – South Carolina Research Authority’s investment affiliate, SC Launch Inc., has invested in Ruffian Software. The $250,000 investment will help the Mauldin-based startup scale its privileged access management (PAM) tool in the managed service provider (MSP) market. PAM is a security solution that helps organizations protect themselves from cyber threats.

Ruffian became an SCRA Member Company in 2021 and received a $25,000 Project Development Fund Grant. They also became an SC Launch Inc. Portfolio Company with this $250,000 investment.

As a solution to the problems businesses have managing multiple secure networks and maintaining privacy and security, Ruffian Software created an application, TechIDManager. This application automatically makes and manages individual accounts with appropriate rights for every MSP technician on every domain, with automatic passwords.

“Ruffian was founded after the team realized MSPs were using outdated, inefficient, and insecure methods to manage privileged accounts. TechIDManager enables MSPs to follow cybersecurity best practices effectively,” said SCRA Investment Associate Daniel Gambrell. “This ultimately means MSP clients’ data is more secure and protected against one of the major avenues of cyberattack.”

“The SCRA and SC Launch Inc. teams have been with us from the beginning. They clearly understand how we are improving security and automation for businesses, which also helps those businesses grow,” said Ruffian Software CEO and Founder Martin White. “We’re excited about this next growth stage.”

“Innovation includes finding better ways to achieve outcomes, and Ruffian Software has succeeded in this. Their product and services can potentially reduce cybercrime and data breaches while improving online privacy for the average person,” said SCRA Executive Director Bob Quinn.

Ruffian Software also prepares businesses and organizations for compliance audits. Their TechIDManager can comply with several different types of frameworks, including HIPAA.
