Andrea H. Marshall is the Innovation Director of the Roper St. Francis Research and Innovation Center in Charleston, SC. The Center was established to identify, develop, and commercialize promising early-stage inventions in the fields of healthcare and life sciences and to advance clinical research. Innovation projects may originate from within the Roper St. Francis Healthcare system, or may be collaborations with outside inventors. In either case, the Research and Innovation Center has the capacity to employ its team of consultants and its clinical research capability, along with resources from the large Carolinas Health System, to advance promising technologies.
Prior to joining Roper St. Francis, Ms. Marshall served as Executive Administrator of Charleston Angel Partners LLC, South Carolina’s most long-standing organized angel investment group. In that role, she managed all aspects of screening, diligence and investment for several significant investments in the biotech sector.
Ms. Marshall is an attorney in the area of corporate law, securities, and mergers & acquisitions. Before moving to South Carolina in 2005, Ms. Marshall practiced in New York City with Holland & Knight LLP, one of the nation’s largest law firms. Prior to her work with Holland & Knight, Ms. Marshall was a senior executive with Kaplan, Inc., a subsidiary of The Washington Post Company, where she supervised operations for an e-commerce division, among other management roles.
Ms. Marshall received her bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University, and she earned her law degree, with honors, from The University of Texas School of Law. She lives in Mount Pleasant with her husband, David Marshall, a physician and Professor of Radiation Oncology at MUSC. Their two sons attend Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, and Clemson University.
