SCRA often assists the innovation process by providing matching grants to lower the development risk.

DEMONSTRATION GRANTS

Who: Early-stage Companies and/or Academic Institutions in South Carolina
When: On a rolling basis
Why: To provide a valuable solution to a corporate partner and a significant growth opportunity for a small business and/or academic partner. SCRA matching grants may assist the funding required to provide technology demonstrations, performance testing, or to meet other significant milestones toward the development of new or improved products or processes for growth of sales, or to satisfy new markets.

To expand the innovation economy of the state and to address unmet corporate needs, SCIS also helps to relocate companies to South Carolina. Many companies, for example Volvo and Aeterna Zentaris, have used SCRA facilities as their landing site when locating to South Carolina.
