Dr. Juliana Iarossi is a Clinical Assistant Professor with the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina. She teaches entrepreneurship, corporate strategy, and finance-focused courses to undergraduates and masters students at the Moore School and the Swearingen College of Computing and Engineering.
Dr. Iarossi began her career as an engineer with a technology startup but spent over 20 years in financial services with some of the largest commercial and investment banks holding leadership positions in lending, loan workouts, compliance and investment management. The insight she gained from driving capital to companies for growth, building investment portfolios and restructuring troubled businesses allows her to effectively advise early stage organizations, as well as those in transition as they adapt to a rapidly changing business and economic environment.
In addition to her role as Director for SC Launch, Dr. Iarossi is an active angel investor with VentureSouth and serves as Director of VentureSouth Investments 2019 LLC. She also serves on the advisory board for LaunchPad2X and helped develop their 3-day accelerator program for women founders/CEOs. In her spare time, she can be found mentoring founders of emerging ventures, judging startup pitch competitions and speaking on what it takes to build new ventures and transform established organizations through innovation.
Dr. Iarossi earned a BS in Materials Engineering from Virginia Tech, an MBA from the University of Texas at Arlington and an Executive Doctorate in Business Administration from Georgia State University. She lives in Columbia, SC, with her husband and two golden retrievers but can be found at her home in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, in between semesters.
