SCRA Announces Seven New Client Companies

Summerville, S.C.– SCRA announced the recent acceptance of seven Client Companies into its entrepreneurial program, SC Launch. Client Companies receive mentoring and support services and may also be eligible for funding.

Coastal Companies

EnMed MicroAnalytics screens newborns, pregnant mothers and children for high levels of lead and heavy metals. The company’s patented process uses a single drop of blood that is typically collected at the same time as state-mandated newborn screening. Currently approximately 20% of newborns are screened and the company’s goal is to prevent undiagnosed lead poisoning. EnMed MicroAnalytics is located in Charleston at SCRA’s MUSC Innovation Center.

Shine Water is a physician-developed beverage infused with Vitamin D3 and electrolytes which contains zero sugar and is low calorie. The ingredients are carefully selected based on nutritional science and delivered in meaningful amounts. In 2018 the beverage was accepted into the nation’s largest natural food and beverage distributor. Currently, Shine Water is sold at 75 locations throughout the Southeast and is located in Charleston.

Zaphne is a Charleston-based fintech company that helps compliance officers fulfill their “Know Your Client” and “Anti-Money Laundering” obligations. Zaphne’s Intelligent Compliance Engine, Zaphne ICE™, provides a comprehensive, cost effective, auditable and easy-to-use platform that allows users to research and analyze the right data on a global scale, including negative news, Federal court data, OFAC and PEP databases and social media. The platform’s robotic process automation, artificial intelligence and natural language processing significantly reduces the incidents of human error.

Upstate Companies

CRM Refresh enables businesses to maintain, validate and track changes of data in customer relationship management tools, like Salesforce. Backed by machine learning, CRM Refresh helps growing businesses stay connected with customers and prospective customers automatically with their automated data accuracy and validation engine. The company is located in Greenville.

Humimic produces high quality, professional medical gelatins using state-of-the-art techniques. SCRA provided the company a Relocation Grant to assist with moving operations to Greenville. Humimic’s synthetic gelatin is used in medical research, simulations and other healthcare products. The company works in partnership with Greenville Health System and the University of South Carolina.

Treis Blockchain operates a distributed blockchain transaction processing business where the company processes digital currency and other blockchain transactions. Treis is based in Greer, where the company data mines cryptocurrency, preventing cyberattacks in the financial and retail industries. Treis is at the cutting-edge in blockchain intellectual property development projects. 

University Education Consortium, Inc. has developed a marketplace for online, higher education courses doing business as TheEduForum.com. The underlying principle of the marketplace is to provide more affordable access to current students, working professionals, and other learners. Students can find the courses needed and enroll from one site, which allows institutions to fill seats in their existing courses, maximizing their financial efficiency.

SCRA is a state-chartered organization that fuels job creation and grows South Carolina’s innovation economy. Through SCRA’s Entrepreneurial Program, SC Launch, early-stage companies are provided mentoring and grants and may be eligible for an investment from SC Launch, Inc. The program is open to qualified South Carolina companies in the Advanced Materials/Manufacturing, Information Technology and Life Sciences sectors.
