SCRA is currently deploying three new innovation centers to accelerate business development and commercialization of research discoveries.

SCRA MUSC Innovation Center at Charleston
This newest component of Charleston’s growing biotechnology cluster is designed to support the sophisticated requirements of early-stage to mature biotechnology organizations. The 28,400 square foot facility will consist of flexible-use, multi-tenant laboratory and office space supporting biopharma, biomed and biotech research and commercialization. Ground was broken on the renovations to the building in March, 2009. Occupancy is planned for December, 2009. Leasing applications are currently being accepted.

The location provides easy access to the Charleston International Airport via Interstate 26. Its proximity to the Medical University of South Carolina facilitates its mission as a home for start-up companies emerging from university research.

Clemson SCRA Research and Innovation Center
SCRA is partnering with Clemson University to design and build a new Innovation Center focused upon advanced materials applications research. The facility supports innovation companies in start-up modes. The new facility houses SCRA staff as well as other Knowledge Economy companies.

SCRA USC Innovation Center at Columbia
SCRA is providing a facility in Columbia designed to house high-tech companies emerging from research at the University of South Carolina and entering commercialization and light manufacturing stages. The facility is situated and designed to stimulate and sustain clean next-generation manufacturing.
