Tailored Strategies for Multiple Applications ATI focuses its Product Development Technology skills and experience on the challenges of aerospace, automotive, and Defense product development and sustainment. Through its programs, ATI leads the development and adaptation of information technologies, systems architectures, and engineering processes to realize substantial business benefits. The necessity and complexity of collaboration in product development are evident with today’s emphasis on transformation. ATI-led teams are defining the technologies, methods, and process metrics that are critical in establishing collaborative relationships, managing shared processes, and sustaining innovation. Increased Manufacturing Competitiveness ATI teamed with industry partners to launch the Next Generation Manufacturing Technology Initiative (NGMTI). The purpose of NGMTI is to accelerate the development and implementation of breakthrough manufacturing technologies in support of the transformation of the Defense industrial base and the global economic competitiveness of U.S.-based manufacturing.
With strong congressional, Department of Defense (DoD), and industry support, NGMTI’s goal is not only to create strategic investment plans for innovative manufacturing technologies, but also to drive the implementation of those technologies through focused experiments and partnerships. Accelerating the STEP Product Data Standard PDES, Inc., an international consortium of industry, government, and academia, is accelerating the development and implementation of ISO 10303 (commonly known as STEP - STandard for the Exchange of Product model data). STEP technology provides a standard to accurately and efficiently exchange product information electronically. PDES, Inc. members span the aerospace, automotive, electronics, and shipbuilding industries. Led by ATI, they collaborate on common data exchange issues such as supply chain integration, long-term data retention, interoperability, web-based collaboration, and engineering analysis.
