SCRA SeaHawk Program Recognized for Outstanding Collaboration Receives Przirembel Prize Honorable Mention
Charleston, SC – June 6, 2011 – Project SeaHawk, an SCRA managed collaboration was recently awarded a Przirembel Prize Honorable Mention at InnoVenture Southeast in Greenville, SC. Project SeaHawk is a pilot port security project which was created by Congress in 2003 in the port of Charleston, SC. SeaHawk is an innovative program that enhances port security operations, capabilities and coordination and is a model for future Interagency Operations Centers. The SeaHawk Interagency Operations Center (IOC) brings together stakeholders from federal, state and local law enforcement, FEMA, TSA and the maritime industry together to work collaboratively in daily partnerships to ensure South Carolina's ports stay safe and open for business.
The Przirembel Prize is a newly-formed award, created to recognize collaborations across diverse organizations in the Southeastern United States that are significant to those outside the region. The Prize promotes open innovation and builds a greater sense of distinctiveness of the Southeastern United States as an innovation powerhouse. Applications for the Prize totaled 21, with 4 Honorable Mention winners and 3 final candidates for the award. SPAWAR, also located in Charleston, SC, was the recipient of the Przirembel Prize.
