Lowcountry and Midlands-based Organizations Accepted into the Program

Columbia, S.C. – SCRA, a state-chartered organization that furthers South Carolina’s technology economy, today announced the acceptance of Rock Hill-based Lithium Ion Power, LLC, Columbia-based Susmer, LLC and Charleston-based companies Neuroene Therapeutics and Reify, LLC, doing business as Extremiti3D, into the SC Launch program as client companies. Lowcountry company Park Sterling Bank was accepted into the Resource Partner Network.

Client companies are accepted into the SC Launch program to receive mentoring and other support services. Accepted companies may also be eligible to receive matching grant funds or investments. Resource Partners provide business support services to SC Launch Client Companies.

Lithium Ion Power, LLC develops scalable industrial nanopowder technology for high performance energy materials. The company looks to significantly raise the standard for lithium ion battery performance.    

Neuroene Therapeutics is a biotechnology company developing novel therapies for epilepsy. Approximately 1 million people in the U.S. have seizures that are not well controlled by medications currently on the market. The company’s Vitamin K-based therapeutics are non-toxic and target new mechanisms that are different to the currently available drugs.

Extremiti3D is addressing the needs of the 1.5 million lower limb amputees in the United States. By working with Certified Prosthetic professionals, they will produce 3D printed prosthetic sockets and cosmetic covers with improved fit and reduced fabrication time at a reasonable cost. This unique product line utilizes state-of-the-art digital scanning and 3D printing of products which are precise for each patient.

Susmer, Inc. is a bio-based chemical and materials company applying a technology developed at the University of South Carolina. This technology is eco-friendly and economically feasible. The company focuses on the derivatives of plant oils, including fatty alcohol, for industries in surfactants, detergents, personal care and cosmetics products.
