In collaboration with its clients and partners, SCRA is developing and deploying technology to help people with disabilities. Providing Technology to Improve Care in Rural and Underserved Communities SCRA is validating the effectiveness of telehealth to facilitate the detection and diagnosis of diabetic retinopathy for rural, minority, and other underserved communities. SCRA is using telehealth technology to detect when a diabetic is threatened with diabetic retinopathy, the leading cause of adult-onset blindness. With an initial focus on diabetes, SCRA is working with the Joslin Diabetes Center, Community Health Centers (e.g., CareSouth Carolina, Orangeburg Family Health Center, Santee-Saint James Family Health Center), the Office for the Advancement of Telehealth, and Estenda Solutions on this effort.
