A budget amendment proposed by U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham to restore $27 million for Project Seahawk at the Port of Charleston was approved by the Senate on Monday.
But the full federal budget resolution still must be approved by the House, and the work to preserve the program is not over, said Graham, R-S.C.
Seahawk is a pilot port security project launched three years ago. It brings together almost 50 local, state and federal agencies working to assess threats that could enter the country through Charleston.
